The SmallSteps project by a design studio in Auroville, it is a pioneering initiative aimed at combating plastic pollution through sustainable, reusable bags. Launched on Earth Day, April 22, 2007, the project addresses the environmental crisis posed by single-use plastic bags, which are consumed in staggering numbers globally.

Crafted from a blend of 50% cotton and 50% polyester or 100% cotton, each bag is designed to be stylish, lightweight, sturdy, and compact. The bags are foldable, allowing them to be conveniently stored in a pocket or clipped onto a belt loop, making them ideal for everyday use.

Beyond their environmental benefits, SmallSteps bags are produced by rural women artisans, providing them with sustainable livelihoods and empowering them within their communities. The project not only promotes environmental consciousness but also fosters social change by supporting rural women's employment and skill development.

By choosing SmallSteps bags, consumers participate in a movement towards a more sustainable and equitable future, taking tangible steps to reduce plastic waste and support rural artisans.
